Pettit Gilwee

Founder and President

Founder and president Pettit Gilwee is directly involved with every client as well as the firm’s new business development.

Unlike many area agencies, Pettit Gilwee Public Relations retains senior-level communications professionals to assist in the development of focused, comprehensive programs. Entry-level and mid-management staff members do not spearhead accounts.

Gilwee has more than 10 years of public relations and marketing experience in providing strategic counsel to professional businesses and non-profit organizations.

Prior to opening her firm, she headed up the public relations efforts at Homewood Mountain Ski Resort and later the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. Gilwee also developed communications programs for many leading national companies and organizations while at MMC Communications, Gold Rush Communications and Karen Bakula & Company, all public relations agencies based in the Sacramento Region. Gilwee worked as a freelance writer, and her articles have been published in Runner's World Magazine, in-flight publications, regional business journals and many local newspapers.

Gilwee currently serves on the Nevada Rock Art Foundation board of directors, and is a past board member with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association and North Tahoe Arts. She is a member of Tahoe City Rotary, Society of American Travel Writers, North American Snowsports Journalists Association and Public Relations Society of America.

Gilwee received a bachelor of arts in communications from the University of California, Davis and a master's of science in public relations from the University of Denver. She is a part-time instructor at Lake Tahoe Community College where she teaches public relations courses.

Gilwee enjoys trail running, hiking and spending time with her family.
